The aim of this study was to determine the effects on the density, bending strength and modulus of elasticity and utilizable in impregnation process of wood materials of some geothermal waters from Konya-Ilgın region of Turkey. In the study, thermal waters of SJ-1, SJ-3 and SJ-5 geothermal wells and sapwood samples of brutian pine (Pinus brutia Ten.) were used. After six different treatment solutions were prepared from the geothermal waters at normal room and source outlet temperatures, the wood samples were treated separately with these solutions. The density, the static bending strength and the elasticity modulus properties were studied for treated and untreated (control) wood samples. According to the obtained results, it was determined that the density values increased, whereas the bending strength and the modulus of elasticity values decreased. The SJ-5's 40.9ºC treatment, which was obtained the highest retention value, showed that the density of wood samples increased by 16.64% compared to the control samples, but decreased the bending strength by 3.17% and the elasticity modulus by 29.06%.
