Abstract

California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values are not always easily accessible, especially when the highway is already constructed and therefore, CBR values obtained from laboratory test results may need to be utilized. However, the laboratory test results do not provide the same results as the field tests due to external factors. To utilize the CBR values from laboratory tests, they need to be corrected with a coefficient to correspond to the in situ values. For the current investigation, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) measurement from the field have been collected and samples have been compacted with the same field material and the same in situ density and laboratory CBR tests have been carried out. A trend analysis was performed between the results from field and laboratory test values and a resulting correction coefficient is calculated.
