In this study, changes in lemon prices and seasonal fluctuations in Türkiye were examined. Furthermore, to evaluate the competitiveness of countries that play a significant role in global lemon production, the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index by Balassa, the Relative Export Advantage (RXA) index by Vollrath, and the Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) index by Laursen were used. Data from the Istanbul Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market were used for the price analysis. In contrast, data from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations were used for the competitiveness analysis. Seasonal index values for lemon prices in Türkiye between 2010 and 2024 were calculated and compared using three different methods: simple average, moving average, and trend analysis. The competitiveness of the top ten lemon-exporting countries in the world was also analysed. The results of the price analysis revealed that, across all three methods, lemon prices tend to increase during the June-September period and decrease during the November-April period. The competitiveness indices indicated that over the past 15 years, South Africa, Spain, Türkiye, and Mexico have consistently maintained a strong comparative advantage in lemon exports. Brazil and the Netherlands exhibited moderate levels of competitiveness and were identified as requiring improvements to achieve sustainable competitive strength. The United States and China were found to be generally in a disadvantaged position. Colombia, which initially faced a disadvantage, has gained a strong competitive advantage over the past five years. Türkiye was found to have a high level of comparative advantage in lemon exports compared to other countries, indicating specialisation and a strong competitive position in the sector.
