Özet

In this study, the effects of certain biotic factors (length, presence of lesions) and abiotic factors (month of fishing and fishing area) on pleopodal egg production of Pontastacus leptodactylus (Eschscholtz, 1823) were examined to determine the optimal productivity of spawned female crayfish for aquaculture purposes. The research was conducted monthly in Lake Eğirdir (Isparta, Türkiye) from June 2021 to May 2022. A generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) was employed to estimate the potential effects of selected factors on pleopodal egg numbers. The total number of pleopodal eggs in the sampled crayfish ranged from 9 to 533, with a mean (±SE) of 278 ± 4.45 eggs. The results indicated that egg-carrying (berried) crayfish length and sampling period had a statistically significant effect on average egg production (p < 0.05), whereas lesion status did not have a significant effect (p > 0.05). According to the model results, the highest number of pleopodal eggs was observed in crayfish without lesions, caught in March from Gaziri Fishing Area within the 13 cm total length class, whereas the lowest number of pleopodal eggs was recorded in crayfish with lesions, caught in May from the Soğula Fishing area within the 8 cm total length class.
