Abstract

In this paper, a miniaturized dual-band textile antenna with a monopole structure is presented. The primary radiator of the antenna consists of nested split-ring resonators (NSRRs) and meander-line elements. The overall size of the antenna is only 40 × 31 × 0.7 mm3. According to the numerical results obtained using CST Microwave Studio, the proposed antenna operates at 1.11 GHz with a bandwidth of 2.44% and 2.85 GHz with a bandwidth of 10.58%. The measured return loss result is found to be in good agreement with the numerical result. In addition, the antenna exhibits well-behaved radiation pattern characteristics with acceptable gain values at the respective frequencies. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed antenna exhibits the smallest electrical dimensions among textile antennas reported in the literature.
