Abstract

The presented paper focuses on renewable energy-assisted electricity, hydrogen, and cold energy production. Solar energy is used as the energy source in the study. The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is used for electricity generation, a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer (PEMe) for hydrogen production, and an ejector refrigeration system for cold energy production. The study is based on the exergy concept and examines thermo-economic and thermo-environmental analyses. The exergy efficiency of each equipment in the system is calculated from a holistic perspective. Considering the energy consumption values of the equipment in the whole system, the cost required for hydrogen production is calculated as 1.086 $/kg. Additionally, the exergy efficiency of the whole system is found to be 2.082 %.
