Prey of some robber flies (diptera: Asilidae) in Turkey

Abstract

In this study the prey of robber flies is identified in Turkey for the first time. The prey of 16 species of Asilidae, belonging to different orders, was identified. The prey consisted mainly of Hymenoptera (57.4%), especially Apis mellifera (Apidae; 33.8%), followed by Diptera (19.1%), Coleoptera (10.3%), Hemiptera (7.3%), Homoptera (4.4%) and Lepidoptera (1.5%). © 1997 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
