Some of the places where fast digital transformation is taking place in the world are the universities becoming important agenda items with their digital campus applications. A great deal of applications on which student attendance is being tracked digitally via various newly developed techniques are being encountered alongside other applications in other areas such as security, energy management and personal comfort. In this study, a portable student attendance system based on reading fingerprint that is one of the important biometric data was proposed. The attendance system consists of a module and interface software. The lecturer using the software can safely store the attendance information in the database. Arduino based developed module interface software is written in Python language. A quick attendance check could be made during the class by way of a module developed as a substitute of classic attendance sheet. The developed fingerprint reading based portable system does not need a smartphone, internet and electricity. In this respect, it differs from the non-traditional probe systems in the literature. It is thought that the developed module and software can be integrated into digital campus applications.
