Özet
This document provides a comprehensive review of Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) technology and in particular highlights the role of DSRC in improving vehicle communications, traffic safety and management. The review addresses the advantages of DSRC, in particular its low latency, short range communication capabilities and its critical role in Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications, which are an integral part of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). One of the main focal points of the review is the security challenges associated with DSRC. Due to the wireless nature of DSRC, the system is vulnerable to various security threats such as unauthorised access, data manipulation, jamming and denial of service (DoS) attacks. These vulnerabilities lead to serious security risks such as traffic accidents, disruption in real-time traffic management and breach of data confidentiality. The review also highlights potential solutions and improvements to DSRC security mechanisms. These include the adoption of encryption techniques, intrusion detection systems, blockchain integration and AI-driven security enhancements. Furthermore, the integration of DSRC with 5G networks and cellular V2X (C-V2X) technology is discussed as a way to address the current limitations of DSRC in terms of scalability and security in densely populated areas. In conclusion, this paper emphasises that although DSRC has a critical role in advancing road safety and in-vehicle communications, it is essential that its vulnerabilities are addressed to ensure its sustainable and secure use in future transport systems.
