Abstract

In this study, subcooling and superheating heat exchangers of vapor compressed refrigeration system were investigated in terms of thermoeconomics for two different refrigerants and optimum working conditions were determined. Coefficient of structural bonds was used as thermoeconomic optimization method. Analyses were carried out for refrigerant R22 and alternative of it, refrigerant R407c. As a result, optimum areas of subcooling and superheating heat exchangers are determined in relation to economics and working performance. For a refrigeration system design, decrease of heat exchanger area, affects the system cost as a decrease. However, decrease of heat exchanger area, causes a decrease in efficiency value of system. In the present study, optimum conditions for the optimum heat exchanger area and optimum system efficiency are determined.
