The first aim of the research is to compute the competitiveness of the apple sector in Türkiye with the annual data for 1970–2020. The second is to explore the long- and short-run relationship between apple exports and foreign direct investment, apple export price, apple production, the competitiveness of the apple sector, and terms of trade variables. To accomplish this, the newly developed revealed symmetric comparative advantage (RSCA) index was employed to calculate export competitiveness, and a dynamic autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound test cointegration approach was used to identify the factor affecting apple exports. The findings affirm a short- and long-run relationship between Turkish apple exports and the investigated variables. On the other hand, there is no short- or long-run relationship between exports and foreign direct investment. This shows that foreign direct investments do not have an impact on Turkish apple exports.
