Abstract

Apple fruit cv. Golden Delicious symptoms of rot were collected from storage in the area of Eğirdir district of Isparta province, in Turkey. Based on morphology and phylogeny of DNA sequence data for the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA region, the isolated pathogen was identified as Diplodia bulgarica. This is the first description of D. bulgarica causing postharvest fruit rot on Malus domestica cv. Golden Delicious in Turkey and worldwide.
