With the increasing importance of energy storage systems, the demand for more efficient, healthier, and safer battery packs is rising. These systems typically connect multiple battery cells in series and parallel configurations to achieve the desired voltage and current capacity. However, voltage imbalances among the cells due to various physical or chemical factors can lead to issues such as energy loss, high temperature, and excessive current flow. Balancing techniques are crucial to address these challenges and improve the performance and longevity of battery packs. This study proposes a topology usage method specifically tailored for systems with significant voltage differences, utilizing the single-switched capacitor topology. The efficacy of selected parameters within this topology, including the shunt capacitor value and switching speed, was evaluated through simulations conducted in MATLAB Simulink. Additionally, improvements based on voltage differences between cells were explored, leading to alternative utilization strategies for the topology.
