Abstract

The most efficient method to get cold plasma at atmospheric pressure is dielectric barrier discharge(DBD). By this method, which has application area at industry, non-equilibrium plasma conditions can be generated. In DBD's, short-lived large numbers of electrical breakdowns called microdischarges are significant. Characteristics of microdischarge depend on electrode configurations, shape of electrodes, gap distance, pressure and gas. At least one of electrodes covered with dielectric material fed by high AC voltage and electrical characteristics of microdischarge current for different amplitude, frequency and gas gap values have determined. It has been observed that, as the amplitute increased the discharge current increased, as the frequency increased the number of microdischarges increased, as the gap distance increased the discharge current decreased. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.
